Dr. Dara Gottlieb is from Ottawa. She graduated from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. After obtaining her DVM, she completed a 1-year rotating internship at the ASPCA in New York City, where she thrived in the busy emergency setting, and then a 3-year residency in emergency and critical care medicine at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Gottlieb obtained board-certification with the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Medicine in 2015.
Dr. Gottlieb is passionate about teaching and training emergency doctors, interns, and technicians. She is a certified veterinary CPR instructor (RECOVER certified instructor) and has created and taught a comprehensive training program on Critical Care Nursing. Her clinical areas of interest include electrolyte derangements, endocrine emergencies, veterinary triage systems, nutrition in the ICU, and transfusion medicine.
Dr. Gottlieb and her husband moved back to Ottawa from New York City to start a family. They now have two sons and are proud to be raising them in Ottawa. When she is not busy being a veterinarian or a mother, Dr. Gottlieb enjoys reading, skiing, water skiing, practicing piano, playing board games, and singing karaoke.
She has had the pleasure of providing the pets of the National Capital region with emergency and critical care expertise since 2015 and is thrilled to be part of the team at Capital City Specialty & Emergency Animal Hospital. She looks forward to helping Capital City Specialty & Emergency Animal Hospital grow and become the centre for specialty veterinary care in eastern Ontario and western Quebec.
